2003 Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4L SOHC 4GS4 engine - interference or non-interference?
Does anyone know for sure if the 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4L 4GS4 engine is interference or not?
I have an '03 Mitsubishi Outlander where the balance belt broke while driving at 60 MPH. The engine continued to run until I pulled off a 1/4 mile down the road and had it towed home. No issues on the timing belt (stayed intact). I replaced the timing belt, water pump, balance belt, and drive belt (along with idler pulleys and drive belt tensioner). But when she starts up she sounds like she's running on only 3 cylinders and she shakes like a beast.
I know the timing marks are correct but am wondering if I bent a valve somehow. I'm getting conflicting info on whether or not this is an interference engine.
Any knowledgeable help is appreciated!
