2005 Outlander XLS RPM issues
I have a 2005 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS (4 cylinder), with two issues that are probably related.
When starting the vehicle from cold, it now starts like and older type vehicle before fuel injection with the choke kicking in (never did this before), and the RPM around 1500, then slowly cutting back close to normal.
The other issue is when the engine is warm, the idle fluctuate between 800 to 1100 RPMs.
could this be just an adjustment somewhere, or a sensor problem?

could be the Idle Air Sensor. generally located on the throttle body. often they are also located downstream of the PCV return line...so they can get fouled with oil. I've fixed a few with a toothbrush, a small bowl, and some sort of mineral spirits/carb/brake cleaner. Never seen what it looks like on the Gen1 outlander, so I'm just guessing at this.
another sensor that comes to mind is the throttle position sensor...but usually when that goes, it throws a CEL code.
