I test drive the car recently. It's a very good car. Here is my observations:

Thumbs up for:
- Interior design is very nice especially the dashbord area with black and silver trims.
- The Rockford Forsgate stereo system is exceptional with 9 speakers and 650 Watts.
- Tiptronic controls attached to steering wheel is interesting for those who want more than just auto-transmission.
- 4WD control has 3 modes to select manually unlike those auto 4WD in CRV and RAV4.
- The cargo space is spacious when third row seats are down. Third row seat is a nice option when you need them occasionaly, but those seats are only suitable for kids.
- The car is solidly built, a bit of european car's feel (firm and sturdily) to it.
- Standard features on premium model are very good with keyless entry/start, front/side/curtain airbags/auto xeon lights/18-inches alloy rims.
- Driver and front passenger seats are 'sport' seat like those in BMW, you feel secure sitting in there.
- Handling is good (but I wish it's a bit firmer) and turning radius is tight (5.3m).
- The ride is quite comfortable as you would expect from a car-based SUV.
- The MIVEC 2.4 litres engines comes with INVECS-III Sport Mode 6-speed CVT transmission is good but not exceptional. It picks up much better than the new Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.7L but not as good as Subaru Forester 2.5L. For some reason, I feel it's almost as good as the Nissan Murano I test-drive recently but Murano has a 3.5 liter engine inside, it must be the 6-speed CVT that did the trick.

Thumbs down for:
- The front view and side profile are great, but the back looks like Lexus RX330 which I dislike.
- Road noise in cabin is noticeable on highway run, according to the salesman, it's because of the Bridgestone all-weather tyres.
- Visiblility is decent but the beam between driver and passenger is so thick that it may hinder the view while merging into traffic.
- No NAV system on board, it does not bother me a bit but may be considered a 'must' for some consumers these days.

Overall, it's the best SUV that I have test drive recently, now I only have to try out the new Toyota RAV4 to decide which one to buy.

Yup...a 2.4L Turbo will be helpful since Mazda CX-7 and Acura RDX will be using 2.3L Turbo with about 240HP, they will make Outlander looks "slow" in comparision, but I read somewhere that Mitsubishi will be launching the V6 version of Outlander in the US.

 

V6 would be better than nothing I guess.............

 

V-6 is alright, as long as the chasis aint going to be heavy. (besides, theres plenty of blowers out there for 6)

 

Yeah well...a heavy chasis would kinda ruin the whole deal.

 

have you seen the SE model yet? (special editon ) kinda' like it, its mivec w/ a bling....lol
