2007 XLS Navi & RSE
Okay, checked the search can't seem to come up with anything on this. I looked in the manual before buying the XLS and it indicated that the Mitsubishi RSE unit from Mits would play the DVD through the factory stereo when rolling like mots any other SUV and that it would display on the front NAV in park. The documentation that came with the kit said the same thing but after getting the unit installed I find a piece of paper in the bottom of the box that essentially said that it will only be able to be listened to with the headphones. Using the auxiliary jacks in the console appears work this way. I go back to the dealer and then after some phone calls I am told that the LS Outlanders are shipped with a Japanese version and the accessory unit is the "on-shore" unit making the factory installed unit an "off-shore" unit.
So I am wondering to myself what happens if you have an LS the unit goes bad, do they replace it with a less functional unit (like mine), I think they'll have some mad customers. So it appears that there must be two part numbers available or the wiring harness in the XLS is perhaps slightly different. Does anyone know this? I am guessing the ETAC has be programmed to make it aware that the DVD is present (I think). The parts guys were unable to look this up for me. At this point I would like at a minimum to be able to use the factory speakers with my $1730 Mits "accessory" I think I should have gone to the electronics store and had them put something in that would work.

Well it wont play in the front while driving at all no matter what model you have. It is programedfor lawful reasons to turn off unless you have it rewired to stay on.The one I looked at had wireless head phones and didnt need to be plugged in. It was the LS model with the NAVI and RSE added on. Thats all I know.
