Default 2011 gs4 outlander

My outie refused to start so I sent it off to the garage that I had purchased it from. They have phoned me back saying that the problem is with the fuel system and that the common rail system will have to be replaced at a cost of around £1500.00 including VAT. Am I really unlucky or is there a problem with the outlander that I have not heard about.
I have had the car from new and it has only done 24500 miles and has had all its services.
I bought this car as a reliable option for my retirement and am greatly disappointed with this turn of events.

They fitted the new part and have not been able to get it running right since so I am still without my car after all this time, they have sent two technical requests to head office and are working on the reply's but no luck yet it is starting to get a bit silly.
