Just get someone with an RVR/Outlander Sport to read the PN number behind the glove box. The service manual doesn't mention anything relating to a specific stereo system required for satellite radio.
Here is proof...note the title of the page.

Audo amplifier = RF system.

Ivanz.

Thanks for all the info. I think I found a used unit that will work. (Fingers crossed.) I'll let you know how it turns out. Never realized how I've come to depend on the radio controls on the steering wheel. Again, thanks.

And of course, I'll hold you completely responsible. Nahhhh.

Err, you can blame Mitsubishi for providing a faulty service manual
You can get it here:
https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/mi...al-data-40049/
Gives you all the troubleshooting steps too along with installation diagram.
Let us know how it goes.

EDIT: I just looked over the troubleshooting guide for satellite radio, and it didn't mention the need for coding. So you may not need it. You can hold NAVI+SET for 3.5s to get a diagnostic menu to see if it can see it in MMCS.

As for the coding: despite of having factory installed Sirius receiver the coding reads "Satellite Radio: absent"

BTW I am going to remove and sell it. Anyone's interested?

Purcahsed mine pretty much fully loaded back in Feb. I traded in my 03 SRT4 for it with only 48,000 miles. I have no remorse at all in getting the Outlander Sport. Yes it is not a powerhouse but you shouldnt expect that when you buy it. Get around 25-27 MPG around here in WV with focusing on my driving habits. We have a 7 month old daughter and one of the reasons that we purchsed the Outlander Sport was safety and warranty. Now have around 13,000 miles and very happy so far.

Found 8701A219 on ebay for about $100.

So if someone is interested, mine will go for the same price.

I've had my sport for just about a year now and overall its a cool little suv with a lot of nice features. The gas mileage could be more as advertised (I'm getting about 27-28) and that's not driving it hard at all. As like everyone else who owns one the really only negative is the engine. It definitely needs either a direct injection or a turbo. I just put on a cold air intake to pep it up and I think I'm going to swap out the crank pulley with an aluminum one and gain a bit more torque and hp. Another thing is I only wish that all the markets that share this vehicle (sport, asx and rvr) would also share their accessories as well. I am in process of working with a dealer in europe to get some cool accessories that you cant here in the states. Overall a nice vehicle with upside.
