Default 2013 Outlander Sport CVT Fluid Exchange

In my maintenance manual for the 2013 Outlander Sport, it never says that the CVT fluid needs to be changed. It only says to check the fluid. It does say to change it in the severe maintenance schedule, but not in the regular schedule. I am wondering if I should still change it anyway, or if it was designed not to be unless it starts overheating? I have no problems with anything right now.

Here in australia the fluid is changed every 90000kms, but if the vehicle is used in unusual conditions this is reduced to 45000kms.

Personally i think close to 45000 is the better option. The fluid is expensive, but do not use "compatible" oils. Diaqueen J4 is what it needs

Did you do it yourself? The service manual says it can drain 5.39 quarts. Does it really drain that much? I have 5 but need to know if I need to buy another before doing this.

3 1/2 litres is all you will get out. Best practice is to go for a 10 minute drive, drain it, then refill it with 3.5 litres. Then go for a 10 minute drive, drain it again and refill with another 3.5 This will ensure the convertor is flushed through and the overall oil will be cleaner

If the level is good, simply measure how much fluid drains out and refill with the same quantity.
