Default 2015 Headlight replacement

I recently hit a deer on the drivers front of my 2015 Outlander sport and broke the mounting tabs for the headlight (it still works, just aimed down). The headlight part for my HID light is 8301C215, and are pretty expensive. The halogen part number is 8301C223. My question is are the housings the same? Can I just swap my HID ballast etc or are they incompatible? Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Welcome to the forum!
The headlight housings are the same for the HID and halogen equipped models but the swap is not as easy as you think. You would have to put the headlights into an oven to soften the glue that seals the front polycarbonate glass to the plastic body in order to disassemble the headlight. This is a fairly delicate job as you should avoid any warping. People, who installed LED stips and or switchback turn signals have done this but for a novice person it could be risky. Yes, the place for the ballast exists even in the halogen headlight (see attached pictures). Check out junkyards, whether you can find an HID headlight there or even on ebay or Craigslist. These options are definitely cheaper than OEM (even the halogens) new copies.

Default Headlight

I bought an HID light from ebay, only issue is the amber lens has come loose from it’s original location. I see 7-8 screws around the perimeter, and various tabs to hold the clear lens to the housing. Is this lens also glued, or can I just disassemble to get to the amber lens inside?

Why not return it and buy another one? Was it a super appealing deal? If so, you may need to "bake" the fixture and open it up to fix the amber piece and then reseal it. You have to ask yourself whether you are up to a task like this.

New light is $1200, got this one for $220 on ebay. Lens out of place was a known issue. To save $1000 I took the risk.
