2016 Outlander SE: Cannot play m4a aac?

I have some m4a files that work fine on my PC. My Outlander can see them on USB drive, but cannot play them. It just skips those files.

MP3 plays well on the same USB drive. Some of the wma files do not play properly either. Any ideas?

Lots of systems will not do this. New Chevy Cruz is the same. Hyundai is the same also.
just get a free M4A to MP3 converter. I use one for all my music files etc, that are pulled from various areas.
