Default 2017 outlander towing capabilities

hi all
we own a 2017 outlander automatic it does have a cvt, we just brought a caravan with a TAR weight of 1500kg, has anyone towed a caravan this size behind there outlander just want to know do we spend the cash on a tow bar or put it towards a car that can tow our van

Hi Luke, it's probably best to refer to your owners manual as the ratings can vary depending on your location. The USA owner's manual for my 2019 2.4 gasoline with CVT states 1500 lbs. which is well short of what your caravan weighs. I have towed my fishing boat which is close to the max tow weight and my Outlander handled it just fine, though a caravan will catch a lot more wind.

hi thanks yer the manual says 1600kg but i have read on other forums that the outlander with a cvt struggles to tow, so wounder if anyone else out there has towed a van before with the outlander
