i have access to a set of 235/65 R17 winters for a really good price

will this size work ok on the car .... please ??

 

not 100% confident that size would fit... it's a 29" tire...

did you come stock with 16s or 18s on yours.

1.3" taller than a stock 18 inch tire... If it were me, I would be hesitant...

 

i got 18" R .. im know is big.... my concern is the space in the back the mud guard when the car is turning...
and also i dont know if there is a way to adjust the tire size for the speedometer

 

Couple things to consider...

IF speedo could be recalibrated for the larger tires... this would have to be done twice a year (when putting them on and taking them off)

AND I doubt they are willing to do it for free... will probably add up to be pretty hefty after awhile

 

The 2010 Outlander should be able to take a R18 or a R16 as the lower trim comes with the 16s and the higher trims come with 18s but the exterior is identical.

235 is bigger than either stock so it's possible something could rub against part of the car, you'd probably have to mount them and look.

As far as your speedometer goes there are calculators online and based on the stock tire size and your new tire size when your speedo reads 100 mph you will be going 104.63, reads 60 you will be going 62.78 and when it reads 30 you will be going 31.39.

I'm not sure if this small discrepancy matters that much, if it bothers you, you can get the ETACS customization cable and change the tire radius yourself twice a year...

While your at it you can turn off the TPMS so it doesn't ding at you every 15 seconds.

 

Not trying to thread jack, but how do you turn off the TPMS?

 

There's a popular thread called ETACS Customization options or something the first post has a link to the adapter and software...The dealers can't even turn off the TPMS this is a community project and I have been using it for years now and even done a few locals.

You need the adapter ~$50 I think, an old laptop or a PC near your car and the free software. It lets you change a ton of settings in your car including dealer only options, factory only options (like TPMS) and user options if you don't have the MMCS.

Looked like the first page still has the older more expensive adapter on it... Check out etacsdecoder.com
