Default 3.0L Upper intake manifold

I just realized that my 2014 3.0L doesn't have the variable length intake manifold like the earlier version of the engine had. Does anyone know when and why they stopped using it?

What makes you say that?

The connector he's messing with is for the solenoid that controls the actuator. The gray cylinder behind the diaphragm is the vac reservoir that connects to the solenoid. The lever moving around was controlling the door inside the intake plenum. Looks just like my 07.

I'm messing around with a p0660 code, which describes an issue with the solenoid. I've already replaced it. Service manual has a few more things to check than what I did previously.
