48,000km (30,000 mile) service
Hey all,
I am coming up on the 48,000km service (30,000mile). It looks pretty intensive. Any idea how much all that costs on average through the dealership (I live in Atlantic Canada)?
I live in an area where there is no Mitsu dealer, so should I go to one to have this done? Also, they are calling for lots of fluids to be changed - like transaxle fluids - is 48,000km too early for that (even if I am following the SEVERE schedule)?
ANy suggestions would be great! BTW, I am not mechanically inclined so I can't save money by doing it myself lol
Cheers!

I also follow the severe maintenance schedule, and the dealer I go to here in the Phoenix area charges $308 (US) for the 30,000 mile service. I've seen independent shops in the Phoenix area advertise anywhere from $129 to $169 for the service, but they may not do everything mitsubishi recommends.
I feel the transmission/transaxle fluid change at 30,000 miles is needed to prevent problems later on. Beyond that an oil change and replacing the air filter are the 2 other important items. Those 3 things should be done at a minimum.
As far as the rest of the service goes, a lot of it involves inspecting things like the brakes and suspension which in turn drives up the labor costs. The argument used for all the inspections is catching problems early before they become a big problem.
As far as other fluid flushes go, the one I've seen most recommended on auto forums like this one is having the brake fluid flushed every 3 years. In fact I had it done on my Outlander a couple of months ago.
