Default ABS relay "pop" on 08 XLS

All -

I did a search on ABS and got no hits so here is a new one.

Last few weeks, I've noticed a "pop" coming from the front end after starting the ignition and putting the car in drive. The pop comes after about 5-10 feet of being in drive, or anywhere from I'd say 5-10mph. It does not reoccur from a stop, and does not recreate from Drive to Park and back to Drive, only from turning the ignition and going. I do not recall hearing this in the first few months of owning this car and I am the original owner with 3,6xx miles

I broke down and took it in to the dealer today who diagnosed it as the ABS relay doing it's checks and there was nothing they could do about it. Seems like a questionable answer to me.

Does anyone else have a pop, like the one I've described?

Thanks all!

Thanks for the link - makes me feel better about my dealers service department at least. Seems odd that I wouldn't notice this for the first few months though. I wonder if it comes and goes.

Thanks

The outtie owner's manual mentions this and says its normal. I hear it on my 08 ES. I've heard it described as a pop, clunk, bang, but however you describe it its normal

I took mine in to the dealership as well a week ago. they said it was the same thing.

Does anyone have a picture of the unit that is popping? Could it be re-mounted on rubber bushings or something?

Honestly, it blows my mind that Mitsubishi thinks this is acceptable (It also blows my mind we didn't notice this before we drove off the lot). I understand they may not be the ones making the unit, but they are the one purchasing them and installing them in their cars. The only other car I've had do something similar was a '97 Grand Prix where my control module was failing and was 80 bucks to fix.
