i will try and send pics of the rack. I was fortunate enough to examine the roof rails andi havelearned that the mounting hardware is different on the ES model from the LS and XLS model. i am now looking for a way to attach the OEM roof rails to an '07 ES model sans mounting brackets.

I spoke to my dealership today and it's the same thing here too in the UK. The roof railscan't be obtained as an accessory for the base model but my dealership will supply all the parts for me to fit myself from their parts department. Apparently it's all down to warranty issues and Euro TÜV complications if they fit it for me as an extra job. If you ask me it'sMitsu UK'sway of getting you to buy the nextmore expensive model up, why else wouldn't they have it as an accessory, they know it's the one thing that changes the whole appearance of the outi. that's just my 2 pennies.

The price differnece includes alot of stuff not just roof rails. There has to be some way of buying each part seperatly. Im sure it will cost an arm and a leg but thats the price you pay for not buying the high end model. Should of just got all the extra goodies and roof racks to begin with it will probly be cheaper than buying the whole roof rack set up now.

You're right, the price difference does include a lot of other stuff but stuff I don't want e.g. front tumor on warrior, stock 18" alloys, third row seating etc etc. If I bought next model up I'd still have to spends sh*t loads on top to get it to my taste.

You know, if I wanted the tumor on my base model it would cost me over £700 ($1383) + fitting, Warrior owners should be paid that in compensation to have it removed! lol.

For those who haven't yet seen the tumor

I think the rails have a fairly standard shape and the Yakima 'lowrider' is designed to grab onto that for your crossbar mounts (and I'm sure there's a Thule equivalent).

My parents have the Yakima that doesn't fit their current so they are giving it to me. I'll pick it up Aug 5th, so I can post some pictures then if there's still interest.

Are you mixing up 'crossbars' with 'roof rails'? How are you going to attach rails without mounting brackets? You could fabricate your own, I suppose if you are really talented, but something has to bolt to the car. I doubt you'd be able to make something yourself to mate up well with the OEM mount points. I bet there's a trim peice on the roof of an ES that comes off to reveal some sort of hard bolting point, and you just need to buy the OEM parts.
