Has anyone changed their alternator for a high output one? I hear me mechman is a good brand and wanted to know what you guys thought.. I'm going to install more car audio parts and this would help the electrical system..

 

I'd like a higher output alternator as well, but with the Outlander Sport we have a "smart" alternator. IDK how that will effect changing it out...

 

What does that mean "smart"? Lol

 

I believe it has a clutch in it so that if the battery is full the pulley puts little to no resistance on the motor, and thus increasing efficiency.

thats interesting, i would assume replacing or upgrading would cause it to be both troublesome and costly lol..

 

MSRP on a factory replacement was upwards of $1,200 last I checked. This is just in parts.

 

that so much for a stock alternator, i dont think that aftermarket alternators cost around the same with greater output...
