I cannot find anything online at all in regards to do it yourself alternator replacement instructions or tips or any info at all. I bought a used alternator because autozone said my alternator was bad with low voltage and was not consistently charging my battery. But I can't afford to pay someone to put it in for me so I've got to do it myself. Can someone here assist me please?
Look at the service manual (available in this forum from one of the sticky threads above). There must be an alternator removal and installation section there. 2011 or 2013 must have the same procedure except the 2013 alternator has a clutch while the 2011 does not.
The service manual uses the broader term "generator" instead of the alternator so you may have difficulties finding the proper pages. Since I directed you to the service manual I am posting you the relevant information.
First, you will have to remove the coolant reservoir to get access to the serpentine belt (drive belt in the manual). Please see the drive belt routing scheme for reference. Then you will have to loosen the tensioner to be able to remove the belt. The attached figures identify the screws you have to remove to change the alternator. Before you install the new one please make sure that the pulley is at the same distance from the opposite end (attaching screw bracket). Finish the job by doing the rest of the steps in reverse order. The figures specify the torque value to tighten the alternator and tensioner screws. Good luck.
