Anyone Have or Tried the Direct-Fit Android Stereos for 2007-2012?
Was browsing amazon and found these direct-fit Android 10 stereos for 2007-12 Outlanders. These are built into the bezel so all you would need is the wiring harness. I already have a JVC android auto capable unit, but these are cheaper than the name brand ones due to the microchip shortage. Curious if anyone has tried these yet? I'm guessing they are like the other universal android stereos, but would like to know how they perform from someone with direct experience.
I have a android 10 headunit i bought off ali express in my 2009 Outlander. I got the radio and the plastic bezel shown in the photo and its a direct replacement. Personally i think its awesome and a great upgrade.. Wireless carplay, works with the sub and canbus, buttons on the steering wheel work. was a great upgrade.

How cool! Did you manage to connect the factory backup camera cable? I don't believe the cable is a RCA plug?
That is the one thing I have not figured out yet, it did come with a camera to use but I'd like to use the factory one. If you figure it out please let me know. Like if i can buy an adapter or something. If you do buy, make sure you get one with wireless carplay... it's really nice.
Hmmmm, I had decided not to get one, its a gift and Apple Carplay is critical but the description on Amazon mentions Mirrorlink but I did not think that is carplay? It needs to display iPhone navigation for my kid. I did ask the local car stereo install guy to work up a price for a replacement unit and he said he would not be able to use the existing camera,, and he's a very resourceful guy, maybe he knows something about the existing cable?
I love the 07-12 Outlanders, used to have a 07 and now have another 07 and a 12
Best Buy's GeekSquad AutoTechs usually install headunits for free with purchase and they offer Lifetime warranties on their work.
Not to mention you could probably get a real head unit from Pioneer/Alpine/Kenwood/Sony for an awesome deal with Cyber Monday Specials.

Unfortunately sounds like you may need to do some wire splicing to get the factory backup cam to work.

Thanks for your responses!

From what I've read Mirrorlink may be too laggy so prob best to get a Apple carplay capable unit. I think they have ones with this capability, but they are more expensive. Honestly, I only used the carplay/android auto functions when I first got my unit, but having to plug in my phone made it a hassle after a while. I'm waiting for wireless units to come down in price a bit.

Agreed I got my android auto unit last year around this time for a good deal. Not that I need another unit, but haven't really seen many similar deals this year though. I usually install myself so don't really care for the best buy install even though its free. They make you buy the install kit so thats another markup, but I understand it's a good option for those who don't have the time to install themselves. I think the lifetime warranty on labor is kind of a marketing gimmick as you would probably already know theres an issue once you get your car back instead of years down the road.
Also found a tablet sytle one on ebay that looks pretty cool if you like that "tesla" look.
