Default Is it AWD or 4WD?

Was talking to a buddy of mine tonight and telling him all about the new Outie. He asked if it was AWD or 4WD (in the traditional sense where power only goes to 2 wheels). Couldn't be sure and looking the owner manual doesn't seem to specify. Anyone know for sure?

Theres both, and front wheel drive. There is awd that switches power around when needed. 4 wheel drive lockthat splits it 50/50.

The sticker on the back says 4WD.

Perhaps a better way to phrase the question - does the Outie distribute power independently to all four wheels (true AWD) or does it achieve 4WD by "locking the differential" (I know it doesn't actually have a locking differential).

The owner manual alphabetical index refers to "all-wheel drive operation" - the source of my question. I assume it isn't true AWD otherwise you figure that's how they would sticker the back.

We just had quite the thread on this topic. See: https://mitsubishiforum.com/m_109254/tm.htm

I believe that technically, you would call the vehicle "all wheel drive".

I thought there was but that was the only one I could find scrolling back a few pages. I might have over looked it but he knows the difference now.
