Bluetooth how do i know if i have it?
I have a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander and I have been very happy with the car but i have one problem. The steering wheel has the buttons for the hands free bluetooth cell phone but they don't work. Upon taking it to my dealership they told me that all the cars have the buttons but not all of them have the system and that i had the hands free controls but in fact it was not installed on my car. Now to me this makes no sense what so ever and it was a little bit upsetting because that was a selling point on the car. It could just be my dealership i have not had much luck with them in the past. If anyone could help me on this topic and let me know how i could tell if i have the bluetooth function or not. I do not have the original window sticker or options list.
True, they all have those buttons.
Do you have nav?
If so, go into the service menu. (https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/sh...highlight=navi)
I don't remember if there is an option in there to see if bluetooth is hooked up, but its worth checking. I will check mine tomorrow and let you know.

i do not have navigation it seems odd to me that mitsu would put the buttons there without giving me the service. My brother is an ASE certified technician would it be possible for him to buy the parts to install the system if its not there?
if it has those buttons...you should have it
i have a base XLS and it came with BT standard
if you dont have the spec sheet that also has the sticker price on it...have your dealer's service dept print out what came with your car from the factory
i did this for my 09 galant since i bought it pre-owned and i wanted to make sure that it had all the safety features that i wanted
just give them your VIN and get a print out...if it says you have BT (or what ever other factory option) then you should have it functioning in your car coz you paid for it

I have an 08 ES that has the buttons on the steering wheel, but I don't have BT capability. The wiring is there, but there's an additional module I would have to have installed. I think mitsu put the buttons on all the outlander steering wheels so they would only have one steering wheel to deal with, and if a customer wanted to upgrade to BT after they bought the vehicle they wouldn't have to change steering wheels.
"if it has those buttons...you should have it"
Nope- I bought a used LS, it has the buttons, but I don't have BT.
You can buy a kit on eBay and install it yourself, or have Mitsu install it for you. It's about $200 for the kit and $200 for the install.
You can tell whether or not you have BT by following the instructions in the manual and trying to pair a compatible phone. No pairing=no Bluetooth.

There were numerous packages available in 2007 for the outlander. The LS model came with a steering wheel that didn't have the buttons. Getting the "convenience" package got you a leather wrapped wheel with the bluetooth controls, but without the module. The module was an additional $300~ to actually have bluetooth function. All xls's had the module included. You have the buttons, but require the "module" for them to work.
You know you have it if you hit the voice button and it speaks to you, that simple. In Canada all of the Outlander's are "Pre-Wired" but only the XLS models have the module installed. The kit consists of just the microphone and interface box which attaches to the head unit behind the dash. You could install it yourself but a Mitsu dealer needs to do a re-flash.
I haven't read the US brochure but that option is clearly mentioned in the Canadian Brochure.
There was just a poll that was released in the US asking people how satisfied customers were with a dealer after their first visit and Mitsu finished dead last. If that option wasn't clearly explained to you buy your dealer they obviously didn't do their job.
