Default bluetooth/volume control mix up.

I have a 2008 Outlander XLS. I have recently noticed that my bluetooth doesn't always work. I was so frustrated I went to turn down the volume on the radio (via controls on wheel) and the bluetooth prompt came on. Has anyone else had this issue? It has happened more than once. The bluetooth button doesn't work but press the volume down button and it works.

Default Someone Else!

I have had this happen perhaps a hundred times. I believe it happens when cold weather comes along..... I could NEVER get it to happen at dealership. I took video of it but the dealer insisted that it had to happen in their shop. If you ever get it fixed please update! I would love to know what needs to be replaced. You will notice that the up becomes down and when you get to Volume "0" is when the bluetooth kicks in. VERY annoying!!!

Keep us updated!

I have an 07 with the same issues. It is not the cold weather, mine was doing it in August. It just seams to happen for no reason. Although I have found that if I hold the volume up button down, the blue tooth prompt comes on, but of course, it doesn't do it every time.

I have also found that my bluetooth will not answer incoming calls on my cell phone unless it is vibrate only mode, and then, it still misses calls.

The buttons are just resistors in parallel and the controller just measures the resistance. The cold weather causes the buttons not to press 100% on the pad, and that causes it to think you pressed another button that generates less resistance.

There's a TSB regarding this problem somewhere. Search for "clock spring"
