Brake calliper mounting difference??
Hey guys, just laxness on the couch and a Mitsi outlander ad comes on and I thought I was seeing things so i rewind to verify that the latest model out Outlander has the brake calipers on the rear of the rotors both front and rear now??
I wonder why and if it is better or not?
If better then I wonder if we can upgrade our pre facelift outlanders to the current model ones?

Yet the non runout model has the calipers on the front? Very weird

As far as I can think, from a mechanical standpoint, a force is a force. I.E. the caliper is creating an equal amount of friction no matter the location. The only thing I can think of is the angle that the bracket gets pushed? As in now the caliper mount is being pushed INTO the bracket and hub, where as before the caliper was being shoved/pulled AWAY from the hub as the wheel spun in a forward/anti-clockwise motion.
But really, look at BBK's and even supercar brake set ups, some are at 10 o'clock, some are at 2. I don't think it really will make a difference. If you want to make a new caliper mounting bracket, save the time and effort and just make one that will hold a larger caliper in the same spot. (In my opinion, of course

Agreed, I know on the time attack ego I maintained we used 6 pots on the front but effectively went to floating larger r35 gate rotors which we had to make a bracket to mount the caliper again which we set as far out the rotor as possible as the further out the breaking on the rotor face the better it is..
I started with Evo 7 hubs but the spline is different so that was a fail..
I would like to first know the difference in brakes between 07-12 before I start the machining up process as its not worth the r n d if there's variants
