can't turn off ASC
Hey all
Got a2009 4wd outie. Just realized today that if I hold in the asc button which should turn off the asc, nothing happens. Usually, you hold the button for 5 second and a asc off notice shows up on the dash. Now nothing happens.
I did have one asc off error last year but that seemed to go away and things were good after that. I still get the car with the skid marks in the yellow display when I'm slipping in snow which I am assuming wouldn't come on if the asc was off? Or would it?
Any thoughts? I read one post where they dealer unplugged it by mistake when installing a heated seat.... Coincidentally I had a seat replaced. I wonder if that was it.
Anyone else have any issues? I just want to make sure it is still working.
Thanks
Dave

When you start the car you should see the ASC light come on during the light test if it's still properly enabled.
If the computer was disconnected you would get a service ASC message on your dash.
Holding the button down SHOULD turn it off. It's possible if they were fiddling in there they could have unplugged the button.

It definitely doesn't turn off.. I held the thing in for 30 seconds.
Stupid question but is it hard to check to see if the button is unplugged? I'm sure if I take it to the dealer, they'll find a way to gouge me.
How long should it take to diagnose that and plug it back in?
Thanks

Pretty sure there should be a light for it (not the screen in the middle) but there is a little indicator light at the top or something like the brake light and the check engine light. Next time I'm out there I'll check mine.

Though when I screwed up my ETACS settings the ASC OFF thing showed up on the center display and wouldn't clear, so I would have to guess the computer is detected and communicating correctly.
I don't think there's any way to interact with that system directly other than the one button though..

If you know how to pop that panel (check the service manual) it probably only has 2 wires, check to make sure it's connected and then check continuity... That should probably give you an answer...
If you can't take the panel out yourself let the stealer do it, or just ignore it... You probably won't need to turn off ASC anyway.
