Default Cold Air Intake Sputter

A buddy of mine has bought me a custom do it yourself intake for my 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS, 2.4l. So I put it on, an the engine sputters in idol. When I give it gas or drive its fine.. Any idea what the problem is other that probably just ****ty quality filter.?

You might need to unplug the battery for like 10 minutes. Connect the battery and then restart the car. Let it idle for a few minutes to learn the new filter's flow. I had to do this for my 01 v6 galant that had a cold air intake

i run a 2.4l on mine... you sure you have the sensor all plugged in correctly on the intake that may be your issue... but those DIY intakes are known to leak... when i bought one for my jeep years ago i welded it all up to make it solid and then powder coated it... make sure you are snugged up at the TB nice and tight
