Cooling Fan

Cooling Fan
The engine cooling fan on my 03 Outlander is running mostly on high (LOUD) and continues to run 3 to 5 seconds after I turn the Engine off, even during cold weather. I know it calls for the fan to run on all the time, but it did not run on high or 3/5 second afterengine is turned offwhen new. Any ideas or experiances on fixing problem.

RE: Cooling Fan
well, when it comes to cooling systems you have to remember that they dont always operate like new... After years of use, its time for some upkeep. First, I would completely flush, and fill my cooling system. Then I would change the thermostat If that doesnt work, then I would start looking at the water pump... As long as the fans are running, then the relays have to be good. They are only doing what they are told. Also, factory tempurature gauges cannot be trusted, so I would seriously consider checking the factory guage against a nice temp gauge you can buy and install your self. If both seem to read about the same, then it could just be a bad sensor.... but that would be the lastthing I checked, as they rarely go bad
