Default Cruise Control

Hi All,
I just replaced my Pajero with a 2007 Outlander - wanted to scale down a bit! Bad news is the cruise control is not working - not even switcing on! The fuse is good, does anyone know anything else I can check before I run to the Workshop?

For safety reasons two steps are required to turn on cruise control.

1. On the right side of the steering wheel are the 4 controls for the cruise control. When you press the on/off button you should the word cruise on your dash display.

2. Once you see the word cruise of the dash display, you can then set your speed by pressing the set button. If you press the set button without pressing the on/off button first, nothing will happen.

When you press the on/off button if cruise is not displaying on the dash, then you have a problem and will probably have to go to the dealer or repair shop to have it looked at.

The cruise control does not switch on with the On/Off switch - just nothing happening. Guess I will have to go to the dealer in the end...
I will check brake lights, apparantly if the brake light switch is not working, the cruise control will not work - last hope!

A lot of good suggestions. Hope it's not the sending unit as is often the problem. That's not a cheap repair.

Default Cruise Control fixed!

I took the car to rthe daeler to sort the cruise control problem. After 4 days of dismantling the car, they solved the problem by replacing the main computer and immobilizer units - $3000 later! Fortunately still under guarantee!!
