Default diaqueen CTVF J1 vs. ATF J2

I have a Mitsubishi Outlander 2008 (2400cc) and have ben told to top up the ATF fluid. Just wanted to know if Diaqueen CVTF J1 is a recommended substitute for Diaqueen ATF J2 for this car?

Do you have a CV transmission or a traditional Automatic transmission? If you have the 2.4L, I'm going to guess you have a CV, which CVTF would be appropriate.

ATF-J2 is only appropriate for the automatic transmissions...not CV transmission.

Thank you ccernst. I do have a 2400 cc. But have to check whether CVT or AT. The manuar specifies both the fluids - so not sure.

Can you pl suggest how to check whether CVT ot AT? The mitsubishi workshop here cannot opine since this car is not prevalent in Egypt - it is imported from Japan. Thank you.

Look around the engine and see if you have a dipstick to check the transmission fluid level. If the fluid is green, you have a CVT. If the fluid is red, you have an AT. Does your manual state what kind of transmission you have?

I've only driven one CVT vehicle (Nissan Versa) and there is quite a difference how it accelerates. If you can feel it shifting, you probably have an AT.

From what I understand, the 2.4 liter engine worldwide has been mated to either a manual transmission or CVT. Only 6 cylinder models (3.0l engine) come with 6 speed automatic transmission. So if you do not have a 3.0 liter engine, you do not have a 6 speed automatic transmission.
