Portable players are dirt cheap..just hook it up tothe aux input for audio. Definitely not worth losing GPS functionalilty or causing any major damage
Hard to enforce, but I'm sure it'sillegal in some areas

one question is how is a gps update made to this, if not an update how about a factoryloading of the software. How do they do it and can we get our hands on the file......

I haven't found any info yet on firmware updates or how else to access the firware files. If the GPS update inlcudes firmware updates then we may have something.
