Waking the dead here, but I am not entirely clear...

I have a US MMCS. Early model. Can I just by the cable and plug it in (per Boogunoogun #23)? I thought that there were no "jacks" per an earlier post (jsrd #6).

No you cannot. You'll need a newer MMCS (N-05, maybe N-04).

Other than pulling the MMCS out of the dash, what is the easiest way to identify which version (e.g., N-02, N-05, etc.)?

The easiest way is to have a look under the joystick.
