Default First post, Thinking of buying an Outlander but..??

I must say the 2011s look awesome!!! So I just finished reading some threads about these crossovers and I'm confused. At the dealership they gave me the window stickers and this is what they said.
2011 OUTLANDER XLS 4WD 3.0L V6
11.0/26 CITY & 7.9/36 HWY

2011 RVR GT 4WD 2.0
8.4/34 CITY & 6.6/43 HWY
Are these numbers even close to actual? It seems really really high.

Oddly enough I was at the Nissan dealership as well and got another sticker for the Rogue and this is what the sticker says.
2011 ROGUE SL AWD 2.5
9.3/30 CITY & 7.7/37
Now I have been researching the Rogue for a week and KNOW FOR A FACT this is not what the sticker is supposed to say. I usually go to another dealership on the other side of town and on their Rouges the sticker says 22 city and 26 hwy. So why all the sudden has dealerships raised the gas mileage drastically??? The 2 Rogues are the same model and same price.

I can take pictures of the stickers if you think this seems a little odd.
I really want and Outlander or RVR but need to know whats up with the ratings.

Those numbers look way higher than USA numbers. What country are you in?

You can always look up the fuel economy figures on the manufacturers website.

Default British Gallons vs US gallons

Canadian dealers are allowed to use a British gallon to give the MPG calculation:
British Gallon = 4.5460 liter
US Gallon = 3.7854 liter

Makes the numbers look a lot better. Unfortunately most Canadians recognize a Gallon as 3.8liters (or so). Another scam by car dealers.

I'm in Canada.
So I looked up the official numbers on Mitsubishi Canada's website and they are as follows:
Outlander- 11/21.38 city & 7.9/29.77 Hwy
RVR - 8.4/28 City & 6.6/35.64 Hwy
These are way different then advertised.
British Gallon??? Interesting You know for sure they are allowed to do that or are you guessing??? I think I'm going to learn the L/Km way instead of MPG lol
Thanx for your help guys

Just remember it is liters per 100km (L/100km) and not kilometers per liter. ..if you want to compare to european figures that is....

I just crunched the numbers and your right they are IMP gallons.
What a bunch of hosers. Totally turning me off of Mitsubishi.
I sure hope the manager can change my mind about not buying one

For reference, my 07 XLS V6 4WD gets about 20mpg normal daily driving, freeway-only is about 25mpg.

Default Has nothing to do with mitsubishi

I first noticed it at a toyota dealership, but GM,Ford, etc all follow suit on the window sticker.

For those of us Canadians that are old enough to remember the "before the L/100km days", all measurements were in imperial gallons and not the US gallons. All of us "old timers" still think in imperial Miles per gallon as a result. That is why you will find all canadian sites for auto manufactures not only post L/100 km but also the m/gal in imperial gallons. If you go to the Canadian government's fuel consumption ratings web site you will see that you can list the vehicles in either L/100km or mpg that is measured in imperial gallons.

http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/transportatio...ngs-search.cfm

This is not a sneaky effort of the manufactures to boost the look of their numbers but just a throw back of how everything was measured from before when Canada made the metric conversion move. You will notice that on both the Canadian and US manufacturer's websites that the L/100 km ratings are all the same regardless.

Hope this helps explain the rational of the figures posted on Canadian websites and automobile stickers.

Pax

My L/100km is sitting around 10 Hwy and 12 City. But I just went over the vehicle and found that the dealer forgot to do put up the tire pressure to the recommended pressures, so I'm hoping it will improve shortly.
