Gear oil recall and spec change, thoughts?
I was wondering what to put in the rear diff. The dealer told me they need to change it at a 180 dollar cost. I was trying to find out how hard it is to do in my 15 Outlander. I was hoping to put Royal Purple in but the closest I can find is 75w90. Anyone else use anything different than SAE 80/90

75/90 is synthetic gear oil
I've run 75/90 just fine.
180 is a complete rip off. They should be able to do this within 30 minutes and cost can't be more than $20 a bottle (aftermarket is what...$10-$15...stealership markup) At most, this is a $100 stealership job.
