Default High tailgate Outlander III

Now the Outlander was a lot larger than our previous car. And with a light opening of just 190cm height of our garage door the tailgate kept hitting the door when we opened the trunk inside the garage.

On ebay I found gas struts that were shorter than the originals, and I have now fitted my car with these: Gas Strut Dampers 20in 135lbs
Now the length of 20in is perfect for a maximum height of 190cm, albeit the 135lbs is a bit weak: The tailgate opens a bit slowly, else it's OK. So if you could find 150lbs I think that'll be perfect.

Just remember to turn of the electronic tailgate opening, or else the tailgate will close automatically when it cannot open full length...

I'd rather stick a piece of foam on the inner side of my garage door than always bump my head at the low tailgate when loading the trunk in another place than my garage. ;-)

Sure, but I don't want to risk scraping my paint repetively with a piece of foam, soaked in dust and mud every time I close the garage door. And no, a loose piece ain't no sollution.

Come on, I don't know your garage, but how should a piece of closed-cell-foam get "soaked in dust and mud" INSIDE your garage?

When you drive your car in rain and sleet on salted roads 6months a year, you get dust and **** all over your garage floor, every time you park a wet or snow covered car inside your garage. Take my word for it: Any type of foam in contact with my concrete garage floor ain't nothing to rest your paint against.
