I've read the literature for my new XLS and although it mentions how to edit or delete an entry from the "Phonebook" used with the hands free Bluetooth system, it never mentions how you ADD a phonebook entry.

How is this done? Is it by voice only, or is there a way to input from the panel in text mode?

From my experience, it's voice entry mode only. Haven't figured out if it's ever possible to do it manually. It's probably only by voice because this is how you call people using the handsfree BT system phonebook, although you can dial manually from the MMCS panel just as you would from the phone keypad.

 

It's voice only...

There is very little integrationin the Navigation unit for BlueTooth... There is a small status window on top, and a hard to find screen that allows you to dial numbers, but no phonebook entries. No dialing of POI or address entries in your navigation system, they are seperate. Very much like the BlueTooth was an afterthought.

 

It'll see your phone...but as far as sending the contacts of your address book it's a slow process. I can send a contact via bluetooth to the Navi...but then I can find where it puts the contact. I took some time and just "voiced" certain contacts I use all the time. I've also found that the bluetooth has trouble with certain contact that start with the same letter.
