I need help with hitch install
2010 outlander
what a nightmare... first i wanted my hitch to color match.. so i stripped it, blasted it, and color match powder coated it... was a bitch to move that big sucker around in the blast cabinet as well as having to take it from the oven to the booth twice as it needed a clear coat... i thought my troubles where behind me... ooh no!
install, I used a tap to get fresh threads, drivers side worked out no problem, smooth as glass, the passanger side however... 2 of the welded nuts where just destroyed... the threads where just shot, so i had to retap them to standard 1/2, and run larger bolts in... hitch is mounted up.
now the issue... rear wiring was 1-2-3 plug and play no problem.. i go to hook up the front harness to the battery and NO PLUG! i have searched high and low, actually had 4 guys looking and we where lost, pulled the battery, nothing under the tray, followed the wire harness by the lamps, nothing... any ideas? i am at a loss and about done with this 4 hour hitch install, pathetic... was a nightmare
looks good as hell though with the color match. the truck is very dirty now so the pics are a bit off, ill get it washed and take some good pics... this is the same color i am giong to use on the lips of my wheels with flat black centers
if you have any idea where i should look for the plug for the front wire harness please let me know!!!

well i broke down and went to the dealer, tossed a service guy $5 and he showed me where it was... jesus not at all like is said in the instructions or on here, it was taped to a lower harness going to my fogs! way way down there... all done, washed her up and snapped some pics in the light. very pleased

On my 2011, instructions said "black connector taped to right headlight housing."
It was a gray connextor taped to the headlight housing loom, near the core support.
The give-away is 1 red wire in a 4 wire connector.
Sounds like you went for the Mitsu connector. A little pircey but the only way to do it. I got my 2012 with the tow package so I didn't have to go thru this.
What brand hitch. I went with a Curt and everything was plug and play.

I used the Curt as well, but the welded threads where destroyed on 2 of the holes in my frame, so i had to retap them so i can get it to snug up... ya the harness was plug and play and worked out great once i knew where that plug was ahhaha, pulled the trailer all weekend and it worked flawless!
