Default Injector shut down?

Hi, I'm new to the forum.
I've recently bought a 2010 2.2 di-d Outlander 4wd with a 4hn engine and non runner! The previous owner "gave up on it". I stripped the engine down to find no.s 1 & 4 exhaust valves burnt out and no,s 1 & 4 pistons"melted". I sought advice and was told of dpf blockage issues which would cause this problem. I removed the dpf and knocked a hole through it for testing purposes. I fitted a second hand engine with reported 85,000 miles on it. All seemed well once I'd driven 5 miles and blown the crap out of the exhaust system. Then it lost some power and was misfiring. It appears to have shut down no.1 injector. Is this a thing?maybe the cat is partially blocked too? Looking for direction please. By the way the injectors in the second hand engine have been recoded to my ECU.
Thanks in anticipation.
Gary

Interesting issue.

Kind a difficult to believe that DPF blockage will cause the valve and pistons damage. More likely issue with the cooling or oil from the previous owner. Anyway, you replaced the engine as I understood. Yeah, soot particles must have been accumulated in the exhaust system. Check the error codes with obd2 reader. Also check all turbocharging pipes to- and from intercooler. If there is a leak then you have lack of air pressure and fuel is not burnt completely, that's why the black smoke there might be. If you have MUT-III tool and software, try to record values of "target air pressure" and actual "air pressure" after the turbocharger. If there is a difference then there is a leak...

Yes, the ECU can shut down an injector if it detects a fault such as over-fueling, misfire, or abnormal feedback from that cylinder to protect the engine. Since injector 1 stopped firing after the power loss, there may be an electrical issue, a bad injector, or debris from the old exhaust system affecting performance. Check the injector wiring and connector for damage or corrosion, verify fuel pressure, and run a diagnostic scan for cylinder balance or injector control faults. If the DPF or catalytic converter is still partially blocked, that could also cause backpressure and misfire issues.
