Default MMCS remove or not??

Hey guys I need so e help please.

A month ago Otaku was helping me in changing my JDM MMCS to English.
All seemd to go well until the unit somehow was half locked and unlocked.
Have tried inserting the loading.kwi and all data in both JDM and UM but it changes the Japanese message to English that says "please insert program disc"
When I insert it it says incorrect disc etc..
The unit is shut down basically leaving us travelling in silence for over a month now..

My dilemma is Otaku is MIA and we want music as we travel a lot especially now with IVF treatment etc..

Do I remove the MMCS and insert a normal touch screen DVD unit or ???
If install a new unit, what do you reccomend?
I know Iv asked before but I can't for the life of me find it...

Thsnx guys

I think your best route would be an aftermarket unit. I don't know which brands you have available but I have heard good things about most of the pioneer units. Truthfully an aftermarket unit SHOULD outperform any mmcs you can get your hands on. They will have newer maps and better bluetooth/audio streaming. You can get adapters to make the steering wheel-controls work if you use them and they will interface with your phone better than the mitsubishi model. The only advantage of the mmcs is the fit in the dash piece and I think you have the skills to make an aftermarket one look right. The issues with the fit are that there is usually a larger gap between the edge of the screen and the bezel but you may be able to find a dash kit that fits better or add some material to the bezel itself. Look for a just replaced model, that is not the just released one but the one just replaced for the best price. And this is from a guy trying to sell one.
Good luck.
