MMCS RM icon?

MMCS RM icon?
Was using an LG phone with my Outlander MMCS handsfree and now that I got a new iPhone 3G and paired it, the MMCS now shows an RM icon and when I make a call it says "Roaming". My phone is not roaming in an area where I would be roaming, I have normal signal, any ideas on what Mitsu's definition of roaming is? The manual doesn't mention it but does show the icon on their screen in the how to use the handfree page.

Disregard the roaming notice on the MMC all together any time you are on a digital tower that is not of the home carrier you get the roaming message from the MMC its completely meaningless my comes up during about 90% of my calls.

RE: MMCS RM icon?
I doubt it has anything to do with the MMCS. The MMCS is merely reporting the information your phone is telling it to show. Its likely an issue with the phone sending inconsistent info via Bluetooth vs. whats shown on the screen. If its a verizon phone, try updating the roaming towers list (dial *ACT, follow prompts). (edit: didn't see the "iphone" part in your first post, so that makes it non-verizon

It's an iphone so presumably it's AT&T in the US, if it's still virgin I have a virgin (not jailbroken) iphone 3G v2.0.1. Works OK now. I said OK now because I had trouble pairing it the first time, not like my old Nokia 3650. SOmehow, Apple screwed their customers by not allowing the full range of Bluetooth profiles on the iPhone. So what the iPhone BT has right now is just the Audio Gateway profile and Sync. I heard rumors the reason for this is that Apple didn't finish the Bluetooth Stack for the iPhone 3G. If only Nokia had a similar input interface, i'd trade this junk in a heartbeat.

The Apple iPhone 3G uses enhanced bluetooth to allow for better range and data communication. The Outlander handsfree system is standard bluetooth not enhanced which is why there is only limited support for BT.
Thats not really an apple thing any device with Enhanced bluetooth is not fully supported by non-enhanced bluetooth devices. I would point the finger at Mits for not using current technology in there hands free system, since Enhanced Bluetooth was out when the 07' was released.

Didn't mean to hijack this thread but by Enhance Bluetooth did you mean BT v2.0 with EDR? EDR is basically out of the question since it's not even used with the audio gateway. The Audio Gateway with the iPhone 3G will work with the Outlander's BT since it's only the Headset Profile, and having tested it personally, it does pair (after 2 tries) and works. The thing is, A2DP (allowing for audio streaming from one BT device to another), which is one of the coveted features of BT v2.0, is not even supported on the iPhone. Nokia series 60 gen 3.0 has it, blasckberries have it, heck even WinMo have it. Only Apple doesn't have it. Mac OSX doesn't have it, needs to be hacked, but still with limited use, and iPhone don't have it. Of the 10+ bluetooth profiles supported by Bluetooth 2.0, the iPhone has only 2. Heck, even my Nokia 3650 has more profiles built in, and it's only Series 60 gen 1.
So I guess the BT Handset profile in the Outlander is adequate, although I wish the mic would have been more sensitive. I wouldn't really call it outdated since it's only support is for the Handsfree profile and nothing else, and this profile has been supported since BT v1.x. It's just basically a Bluetooth Headset built in the car, and as with any Bluetooth headset, it's compatibility can be limited depending on the brand of handset. The good thing about the iPhone though is that signal and battery meters are all working (once paired correctly), but after turning on the vehicle, there's a minute gap until the iPhone successfully handshakes with the Outlander's BT.

I have a Verizon Moto and it has the same gap when you turn on the car. So i dont think thats the iPhone
Would be really nice to some enhancements on the Sync ability with the car such as with the address book and the calendar. Think my other big complaint on that is the voice dial wont access the voice dial settings on my phone directly and I need to have two separate address books and voice dials recorded.
