I'd like to know how to update the gracenote db with a cd or dvd.
I've read that the only way is to use the dvd used to update maps.
Since i've found a tool for infinity fx35 that can update it using a memory card (my model is not equipped with a compact flash reader ) i'd like to know if someone has already updated it.
Thanks in advance

Good luck.. I have posted this before but..
Contacted Gracenote and they said to contact Mitsu.
Contacted Mitsu and was told to contact Sirius. (eh?)
Contacted Mitsu again and was told to go to Office Max because they sell software. Then I was told to go to Radio Shack.
Gave up.

Funny thing--- I couldn't get mine to recognize anything newer than abouta year or soold (like everyone else). So on a hunch a downloaded the update from Gracenote HERE , burned it to a CD, and "updated" the CDDB acording to the manual. It appears as though it didn't read the disc, but I swear that I have had it recognise almost every new CD I have bought as of late, with the exception of those released after the date on the update (April 07). It may be a huge coincidence, but it would be interesting if someone else could try this out and tell me if I am crazy.

I think the EXE file is meant to update the Gracenote program and components itself, but not the database. I doubt the MMCS will even try to execute an EXE file. At 78kb, I doubt it contains enough info to include the latest titles. But no harm in trying. :-)

That's my thinking too, but it sure seems like it worked. Mind you I never tried these latest CD's before the "update", just after.

Under the "Support Info" screen, what does it say for the CDDB version? If you successfully updated it, I'd expect that version string be updated, too.

I've read on the manual equipped with the mmcs that to update the gracenote db it's necessary to insert the dvd to update maps.
I am going to try to update the database using the utility i've found for infinity: http://www.infiniti.com/music-update/ and i hope everything goes well [sm=groupwave.gif]

Not working... infinity is a system quite similar but not the same... and the dvd is not a recorder... [sm=boosign.gif] so I can't:
1) find "Search Missing Titles" within the menu [sm=pcwhack.gif]
2) record the information...
[sm=imsmilin.gif]
Now the question is:
Where can we find the dvdrom with the new maps? And after we've found it... Can we reuse it to update the internal db?

It's not available yet - last word from Mits is September this year. Search is your friend here.
