I don't have an iPod but looking at the label "MP3/iPod" cable tells me this could be just the regular headphone jack-to-RCA cable. And you can easily get one/make one for much less. For XLS with RF sound hooking up then would be easier, but for those without the RCA jacks, an easy "hack" has been posted here before.

It's just a bad sub to use your iPod.

For 50$ it is more than likely just an aux input jack. Its not the whole set up where you plug it into the bottom of your ipod and it chargers it for you.

Well it could be a coule different wires. 1 being the head phone jack to RCA calbes 2 being the head phone jack to head phone jack. I have never been in the 08 lancer so I cant tell you what one it is. Like JMC said radio shack sells them, circuit city has them, and best buy. They are a common cable and no matter what one it is the price will be under 10$. Unless you buy the monster brand that is about 35$ and sounds the same. But why stop there go for the 50$ mitsubishi cable. Your choice.

Okay, upon further review of the MMCS schematics, the MMCS has a separate line network for the rear camera. It does not run through the CAN Box. It should recognize the signal when input to the appropriate connector. It also appears the interrupt is built into the circuit, which means the MMCS should display the camera view when reverse gear is engaged.

As for my satellite radio adventures,I may have hit the showstopper- all the ETACS-ECU's are coded at the factory and one of the codings is vehicle destination which means, it is possible (maybe even probable) that Canadian headunits will never be able to recognize a sat radio tuner, even with Mit's $5,000 scan tool. Its not a dead issue yet but its close.

I will keep you posted.
Any updates ?
I was wondering if you were successful in getting a rear view camera integrated into the MMCS. Thanks!

Sorry, got distracted with the mirror install but I am back on it. Here is a short update of where I am at:

The way typical rear camera systems work is they send an interrupt signal between the GPS computer and the nav unit so the display automatically switches from the "map" view to the rear display. I don't know for sure if this is the way ours is configured but as a betting man I'd say probably. So I am now trying to determine where the interrupt takes place, testing individual pins (there are about 25 to test). If the results of this testing do not yield intended results, then the next step is to take the MMCS apart - there are two openings on the printed ciruit board which mayforce the interrupt.

A lot of this is careful trial and error (so as not tofry something) based on somewhat educated guesswork - it would be synch if I actually had the schematics of the Japanese version of the MMCS (of course I'd first have to learn how to read Japanese!)
