Need a little help understanding the radio
Hi everyone. I've only recently got this 2009 Outlander 2. Its the Equippe version (in the UK anyway) and I'm trying to get to grips with the radio / head unit. Its the standard unit, not sat nav or anything and in the handbook it describes how to load it with up to six CD's using the 'load' button on the front but on mine, when I push the 'load' button either briefly or for more than 2 seconds nothing seems to happen. Is it because this is not a multi CD unit or am I missing something?
If you do have the 6-disc unit, it should display "load" once you press load. That is if you don't already have 6 discs in there. Otherwise it will display "full". You have to press "eject", grab the disc, load another one.
Thanks for responding - pressing 'load' does nothing so I suppose, unless the thing's broken it means I've only got a basic radio. Hey-ho! I was going to try to get a look at the back of it to see if there was an input socket for a CD changer but I guess I'd be wasting my time there too eh!

Now that is interesting - I held the CD button down for a few seconds and sure enough the AUX message appeared! There are no aux inputs on the centre console though so I presume the unit has the capability but it has not been used. I really need to get at the back of the unit. I have read the various threads about exposing the unit by pushing the silver painted face vent moldings upwards but I cant make this work- how much force is needed? Do they mean pushing up vertically or along the direction of the dashboard? More info please. Oh and thanks for your interest.

I hope there is an input jack behind the stereo unit. Otherwise u could probably connect your external cd changer the old school way w/c is hooked up to the antenna. You'll end up tuning it to a set fm station to listen and u can only control the volume thru this. I think cd changer functions are thru a wired/wireless remote. Another way to hook up your external cd changer is by wireless connectivity via an fm transmitter? but sound quality is diminished.Anyway, I did not read the available "how to pull the head unit". I used a wide flat screw driver(or u can buy a special tool) to pop up the silver vent cover. Just do it with care, start from the bottom. Do the other side. next pop up the black face plate of the stereo. As I recall, there are four philip screws securing the head unit. one on each side and two on top. Use a magnetic screw driver id u have one.(hehehe-I screwed up when the darn screw fell right into the black hole...
) I have to borrow my neighbor's retractable magnetic tool to retrieve it.
Thanks for all this input- as soon as I get a minute I'm going to try to get at the back of the head unit- I'll let you know what I find. The reason for all this is that, on my previous car I had an Xcar Link which fooled the head unit into thinking I had a multi CD changer attached but actually played SD cards. A much more convenient format for portable music. As a result I have my whole music collection on SD Cards. XCar don't seem to make a Mitsubishi compatible version but it looks as though Yatour do. Has anyone any experience of this unit? Thanks again for all the input.
