Default No electrical power until key inserted.

Hi all - I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on the following please :

I have a UK Outlander elegance 2007 Diesel 2.0 DI-D.

My local garage has it at the moment and they have just fitted a new flywheel, clutch and starter motor.

The have put it back together and the following is happening (and they haven't got a clue) :

The remote lock/unlock on the key doesn't lock or unlock the doors. In fact, even putting the key IN the door and turning it doesn't operate.
The interior lights don't come on when you open a door.

However... If you put the key in the ignition and turn it, all the electrics come on (info display etc) and the unlock/lock works again until you take the key out.

When you try to start the vehicle, the starter turns but the car just won't attempt to start.

Any ideas would be much appreciated please.
