Default Not able to shift out of park??!?!

Hey,

So it was pretty cold here today. I had the outlander (2009 LS V6) plugged in last night and I started driving this morning. About 5 minutes in, I pulled over and put it in park. When I was ready to go again, I pushed the brake pedal but it wouldn;t shift out of Park - it took about 5 or 6 tries....

Then at work (the car was plugged in all day) I got in, started it up, and drove a very short distance. I put it in park since I was waiting for someone, but when I went to go again, it wouldn't shift out of park again!!! This time, it took about 10 minutes....

I think it was in 4wd or 4wd lock both times.

WE've had cold days here before, and this never happened. It only has 4000km on it - please tell me this is some sort of saftey mechanism. I doubt it though since the initial shift out of park to start moving is fine...

Any thoughts??

Thanks everyone.

Apologies in advance.
RTFM - "Read the (owners) manual".
Take out the little plug near the shift selector and press with a pen or screwdriver.

Cheers

I checked the manual - I didn't see it. Mind you, I kinda skimmed through it.

No apology neccessary

Thanks!

Take your Outlander to the dealer and have them replace the brake light actuator (it is in the brake pedal area). There is aTSB for that.
