Not sure what your warranty in Canada is, but I would take it back to the dealer right away. Here in the US we have a 7 year, 100,000 mile anti-corrosion warranty, along with a 5 year, 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Unlessthose areas were scratched exposing bare metal there's no way you should have rust this soon.It appears to be a defect in the paint which should be covered under the bumper to bumper warranty.

the 7 year rust warranty doesn't mean you won't have rust in your car. That is a 7 year rust-through warranty, which means in 7 years, you shouldn't have a rust through in any of the cars metal panel.
But neglected road debris damage to your vehicle's paint, which causes the bare metal to be exposed and get rusted, is not covered by the warranty. If your vehicle rusts with an intact paint job, then Mitsubishi could cover that, but I doubt they will cover rust as a result of scratched off paint. And the door edges are primary areas for road debris damage. I had to inspect mine regularly in those areas and I actually bought some touch up paint for some pin point damage from flying gravel.

if the panel is stripped to the bare metal, it only takes a few days for it to rust. That's the nature of iron. It doesn't matter how old your car is, once that bare metal is exposed to oxygen, it will rust. If it's rusting now, it's indeed going to look worse in 5 years. I guess the only way to delay this (because all cars are going to rust anyway) is to keep a eye for paint damage and make sure it gets fixed right away, especially for salt spread roads.
