Outlander Sport / RVR 2014 Steering Oddity
Hey all, first time poster, long time lurker.
Hoping to get y'all opinion on something that's been irking me.
My steering on my RVR has always felt a bit weird - I know it has an electronic steering system, was built of the lancer chassic, etc. but there is still something I just can't figure out.
To me it seems that the steering has no dampening whatsoever going over bumps at a low, low speed. The best example I can provide is that the steering feels simialar to the steering of a riding mower - where if you aren't holding the wheel tight, and you go over a bump, it will want to straighten the wheels to that bump as much as possible. I've driven a ton of other cars and have never had it this bad before.
For example, if I am driving down a road and need to turn RIGHT into a parking lot that has a slight curb to it (and the curb is not PERFECTLY smooth like a ramp) as I turn my wheel right to drive on an angle over the curb the steering will try to jerk to the right to straighten the wheel to the curb - no dampening -- If I hold the wheel REALLY tight, it minimizes the effect but I still feel like I'm fighting it..
What I want to know...is this normal? If not, what can I do or recommend to the dealer to correct the issue? Has anyone else experienced this - I only have 8000km on the vehicle and haven't driven it on anything less then semi-smooth roads the entire time.
