Angry P0300

I took in my Outlander to have the front cross member replaced all they did was slap some goop on it and proceeded to tell me they found a P0300 Internal Stored Code. Does anyone know what the code means or is the Stealership trying to hustle me?

Ask them if that is a pending or active code. If your SES light isn't on, then it must be pending... All that means, during the last drive cycle, there have been a few instances where something is out of spec, but not enough to alert the driver.

P0300 is a cylinder misfire, which could be caused by a number of different things. As long as your CEL isn't on, I wouldn't worry about it.

Cylinder misfire codes usually don't light the CEL and if they do, they don't keep it lit. Whatever the cause is, it usually rights itself.

FYI on Firestone - they use a generic OBD code reader called a Genesis. It won't read or give a lot of detail on manufacturer specific stuff.
