Default Question about engine oil

I have a 2005 Outlander XLS living in Canada and need an oil change, I am getting different recommendations on what to use from 5w 30 to 10w 30 and more recent 5w 20.
Where do I find out what is correct?

Brian

Use what's listedon the oil cap and in the manual.

If you don'thave an oil cap or a manual I'd say5w20but 5w30 isn't much thicker and is prefectly fine...

10w30 is kind of thick for northern climates..but it wouldn't do any damage..just hurt your fuel economy a bit

Of all the different recommendations you get, follow what the manufacturer recommends. My dealer use 5W20 Mobil.

If I am not mistaken you have the 4G69, and that engine spicifies 5w30, I would use that its what I sued on my ralliart wich has the same engine.
