Default The rear camera doesn’t switch on

I have a 2014 Otlander and about half a year back the rear camera stopped switching on when I put it on reverse. I visited the official service and they found out that the camera works fine, but the problem is in the audio system with embedded camera screen. They said that they cannot fix the problem and that it has to be changed. The shocking news was that the audio system with embedded video camera screen costs 3500 Euros. The radio function of the system works. The car was regularly serviced at official service, but was few months out of warranty, so the cost of changing is with the owner. Does someone has any idea if the problem can be solved without changing the whole system for 3500 Eur? Thank you & best regards

Angry This seems like a common problem

I can't believe how many folks are having the same problem. My camera also stop working. I thought maybe another member of the family might have spilled some fluid in the shifter. The only reason I thinking that is when I go through the set up menu for the camera, I can see the current images behind the vehicle. I thought maybe it was a sensor when putting the vehicle in reverse but from what I'm reading, this is a very common problem on the model. They should have a recall.

What is even more strange is that I bought extended warranty for my new car at Mitsubishi official car saloon and this warranty doesn’t cower radio-camera-hands free telephone device. Of course they didn’t mention that to me when I bought the warranty. This for me is an indication that Mitsubishi has a problem with this device, which costs 1/10 of the price of the new Mitsubishi Outlander! Unbelievable.
