Default Removing The Stupid Airbag Warning Stickers

Ok so I only needed to read the airbag warning once in my entire life to get that children are safer in the back seat of the car and since I know very well that a 4x4 SUV is top heavy and handles differently then a car (clearly that is why i didnt buy a car). I really dont feel the need to have a warning label in my face every single time I am in my car saying hey dummy your kid should be in the back and in case you dont know already this isnt a car. So I wanted them removed, MITS does a slightly better job then many others at making these things a pain in the rump to remove but after a bit of thought I got them to come right off.

Directions and Images below:

WARNING STICKERS REMOVAL

First off I am in no way saying this process is a good idea or even a smart way of going about doing this I am simply saying this method works and does so quickly.

You will need a number of items to complete the process:
Iron W/ Steam Ability
Philips Head Screw Driver
Plastic Scrapper Thingy
Wash Cloth
Container of Goo Gone Sticker Lifter (You’ll need about 4 oz)
Hair Dryer

Step 1:
Remove the visor from the driver and passenger side of the car. To do this simply remove the two screws and take the visor out.

Step 2:
Soak wash cloth in warm water and ring out leaving it a bit wet. Place washcloth over the sticker on the visor.

Step 3:
Fill the water section of the iron with 50% water and 50% Goo Gone. Yes I am fully aware the warning label on Goo Gone says do not heat. But hey your removing a warning label for something that may one day save your life so clearly the warning labels are meaningless to you.

Step 4:
Heat Iron to Max Steam setting.

Step 5:
Steam Iron your visor over the space where the sticker is. DO NOT BREATH IN THE STEAM. ITS TOXIC! This step requires some care to be taken if you steam the visor for to long you will start to melt the plastic of the visor itself, don’t do it long enough and the sticker will not come off easily.

NOTE WE ARE STEAMING NOT IRONING!

Step 6:
Once the sticker is heated enough it will peal from the edge with out to much trouble. Use the plastic scrapper thing that came with the goo gone.

Step 7:
While you are scrapping off the sticker you will need to keep a hair dryer blowing on the sticker, if the glue under it cools then sticker will not be easy to remove and may be near impossible to remove. YOU WILL WANT TO WEAR WORK GLOVES DURING THIS STEP. THE AIR FROM THE BLOW DRYER IS HOT HOT HOT.

Also note you need to be gentle since the visor material can be easily damaged at this temp.

Step 8:
Once you have removed the sticker allow to cool for a few minutes then remount in your car the same way you removed it.

DISCOLORING:
You should know that you will likely have some discoloration as a result of the fact that the portion under the sticker has not been exposed to the same conditions as the rest of the visor.

WHATS THIS THE BAD HEADACHE YOU HAVE WHEN YOUR DONE?

You didnt listen to the part of step 6 where it says DO NOT BREATH THE STEAM ITS TOXIC.

Alternatives to this method include go buy new visors that dont have the stickers or visit a online store that sells replacement stickers that you like better to go over the ones you have now!

What I would really like to remove is the labels on the back of the front passenger’s backrest, but those are sewed on the seat's fabric.

Dodo there actually not sewed on from what I can tell they are heat applied the same way the ones on the visor are (at least on the leather seats that is). This is another task on my ever growing list of things to do; i haven't done it yet as I need to think of a different method for those as I am worried about damaging the leather if I use the same method I did on the visors. It should be noted though that since they are special sections on the seats when you remove them you are still going to see the raised area for them on the leather, as a result ive been looking for some replacement spoofs to go in there place. Problem is I haven't managed to find any heat applied decals of the right size yet, granted I haven't spent alot of time looking yet cause once I find some and they are here then I of course have to put them on.

Just a word about label removal, If you do not want the labels, you can ask your dealer when you buy your car. Ask for an unmarked car, yes the cops style... lol. They will send a request to the manufacturer for a car with no logos and no labels (if they don't have the facilities there to do it themselves ). However, be warned that your car may take a few weeks to arrive to the dealer. A friend of mine bought an unmarked Nissan and a Ford. He also asked the dealers not to put their logos on the cars.

I know it may be tricky to get the dealerships to comply with your request but it is doable and it saves your lungs and skin from damage later on...

just my 2 cents [&:]

P.s.- my visors are made out of plastic for some weird reason, I was expecting fabric & foam... so even If I want to take the labels out I wouldn't be able because the soft plastic would melt too

I've got a pair of leather visor covers for one of my other cars, they area good way to hide all of the stickers and the leather makes the interior look more upscale. An upholstery shop should be able to make covers.
