Has anyone else noticed that without mudflaps/splash guard, the lower right hand corner of the rear door is taking a significant amount of rock/gravel chips?

There's been gravel on our roads for a few weeks now with winter here and I've notices some significant rock chips. Looking to put on the mitsu mudflaps.

Anyone out there know if the mitsu mudflaps help prevent this issue? Are they big enough to keep the gravel down?
