Default Rust above the windshield

Is anybody noticing rust spots developing above the windshield? I have a 2016 Outlander and count seven different rust spots from the passenger side to the drivers side. So far Mitsubishi is denying warranty work on them claiming that they they are all rock chips. Odly, there are no rust spots/chips on the hood, A-Pillars or the front of the fenders. Wondering if this is a Mitsubishi "unique" item like the rust that develops on the Outlander Sport tailgates above the license plates?

Salty Midwest, you gotta keep them clean and fix any paint chips quickly. Mitsubishi paint is notoriously thin.

I'm having the same issues. Same dealer excuse "rock chips". On mine is very noticeable cause it's white. I bought their touch up paint (not the greatest) and touched it up twice cause it rubs off. Other than that tires, brakes, and a battery have been replaced by 60k miles.
